Csend Útja Meditation Community

The Csend Útja (Silent Path) Meditation Community is a Buddhist-inspired practice group walking the path of the Dharma, primarily following the teachings of Beth Upton (Anuttara).
The community supports practitioners on their journey toward inner silence with the following programs:
  • Regular meditation sessions: Ongoing opportunities for practice and connection, currently only in Budapest.
  • Monthly Sangha days: Regular gatherings for shared deep practice and community building.
  • Annual long retreat: A 30-day silent retreat with Beth.

Juci Kele.

Mother of two.

In terms of my profession, I transitioned from being an architect to becoming a visual artist — an ARTchitect.

My paintings and installations are born from the meeting of spirituality and harmony with nature; environmentally conscious, interactive space creation is especially important to me.

I first encountered meditation in high school. I met my teacher, Beth Upton, in 2018 and have been learning from her ever since. At first I took part in shorter retreats, and for years, in addition to daily practice, I deepen my experience on regular 30-day retreats once or twice a year.

After a few years I began helping with smaller organizational tasks at the retreats of the Csend Útja Meditation Community, and since 2023 I have been working as the main organizer and president of the association.

János Szebegyinszki (Szebi)

Father of three children, all of whom are now adults. By training I am an electrical engineer, and I currently work in telecommunications. Alongside work and meditation, self-knowledge is very important to me, and I am also active as a facilitator in this field. My hobby is dance, and I regularly dance tango.

I got to know meditation quite a few years ago, initially within the framework of yoga, gaining insight into the “Yoga in Daily Life” tradition. Later, five years ago, I encountered Buddhism at the Integral Academy, first through lectures and themed weekends. Not long after, I took part in my first 10-day retreat with Beth Upton, which was followed by further retreats.

I have been involved in organizing the retreats of the Csend Útja Meditation Community since 2024, and I am currently the vice president of the association. In addition to the Csend Útja, I am also an active organizer and participant in the life of a sangha operating in Dunakeszi.

Ádám Bankó

I handle the administration and finances of the association, and I am an enthusiastic practitioner.

Lóci Alvégi

I first meditated with Beth (back then still Anuttara) in 2021. With my characteristic self-confidence and some initial successes, I threw myself into the practice; since the quick sobering that followed, I have become an increasingly humble white-belt meditator. For 3 years now I have been helping with the organization. I have had many volunteer roles in life, but so far this has been the easiest to do.

I am a creative maker and designer – according to Beth, this is also the reason why it is hard for me to let go of my thoughts, since in life I actually get paid for them…
